Monthly Meeting - November 18, 2010

Hi everyone,

Our meeting this month will be on Nov. 18 at the usual time and in the usual place. Come as early as 10:00 if you like, though the “formal” portion of the meeting will be at 1:00, as always. Before I give you the details of Linda’s lesson, there was a message from Kathy Farris that you will probably need to see:

Ladies please pass along to all members of your circles (by e-mail and phone) that there is extra information for the up coming week, on the web site, that did not get into the newsletter. They are time sensitive for some events so check out the home page and View the retreat site for pictures of a great time. Registration for Esterita Austin are now posted on the web under Classes along with the supply lists.
Thanks Web Mistress Kathy Farris.

Now, on to Linda’s class! She’ll be teaching you how to do the Twist ’n Turn technique (you may have seen Sharyn Craig’s book about it), which is an excellent way to make a variety of differently-sized blocks all the same — very useful for swap blocks, among others. :) Here’s what Linda says:

This month I will be teaching the Twist 'n Turn method for setting blocks that are a little different in size. Also good for those panels we like to buy.

If you want to sew along...bring your house and tree blocks from the exchange last month. You will also need 1, 2, or 4 fabrics that will coordinate with your blocks. Scrappy is also good. You will be cutting strips to frame the blocks. If you want to cut your strips ahead of time, cut your strips either 2 1/2" or 3 1/2" by WOF. (Not both)
Of course if you are sewing you will need your machine and usual sewing supplies. You will also need a 12 1/2 " square ruler and cutting mat, etc.

See you then! :)

Sandy
